Ian Murray
[ian@triathletix.com]
Ian balances his passion for the sport between his own racing and his dedicated work with athletes. USA Triathlon named Ian the Developmental Coach of the Year for 2006 and he earned that through continued persistence of education and experience. His certifications include Level II USA Triathlon Certified Coach, National Academy of Sports Medicine (NASM), level II USA Cycling Coach, a masters swim coach, and is a F.I.S.T certified & level III Fit Kit certified bike fitter, as well as a USAC certified mechanic.
As for racing Ian bites off an ultradistance tri every couple of years – so far that’s included Ironman Canada, Austria, Hawaii, and the first ever off-road IM. There have been too many halfs, Olympics, sprints, XTERRAs, road races, foot races, adventure races, etc to count, but Ian is perhaps most proud of being on Team USA and sustaining this record: Ian hasn’t suffered a DNF (Did Not Finish) in the past 11 years of racing (nearly 100 multisport events). Ian has been the head coach of the LA Tri Club since its inception. He’s also the founder and head coach of the Triathletix Junior Elite Team, and launched the triathlon program at the LA chapter of Team in Training, served as the head coach of the AARP/USAT Tri-Umph! program in Los Angeles. He simply loves this sport.
