Athlete of the Month: Tracy Luebbers
Tracy Luebbers is AWESOME! She has magically balanced her work, her family,
her friends, and her training to achieve an awesome string of firsts and PRs.
Tracy has been an TRIATHLETIX athlete for several years, and when she stepped up to
do Ironman, she did it right by making a full commitment. There's not enough
space on our server to list her accomplishments, so let's just touch on a few
favorite moments:
On the way to Ironman, Tracy raced a bunch of other events including the
Nautica Malibu Triathlon. Her training season was built around the primary goal
of Ironman, and it was agreed that everything else would just fall into place.
Malibu was a must for Tracy as she had done it several times before, she
trains in that area all the time, and she could add to LA Tri Club's bid for
another championship. Malibu fell at the end of a pretty big week - in the
preceding days, Tracy swam nearly 10,000 yards, rode almost 200 hundred miles, and
ran nearly 30 miles. The day before the race she rode 60 miles, all hills, and
she had to run an additional 10k after she crossed the finish line. Even with
all that, Tracy posted a personal record on the day!
This season Tracy has been on another roll with new PRs at Wildflower Long
Course and Half Vineman, a couple of podium finishes in open water races, and
more. One of the biggest thrills for the TRIATHLETIX coaching staff was to race with
Tracy at Xterra Big Bear. We knew the numbers: she had lost some weight, gained
some muscle, and reduced body fat. However, we were astounded by the sculpted
abs, the defined arms, and the cut legs that sauntered up to registration at
Xterra. That Tracy Luebbers girl, she's AWESOME!
